2. Type CL2P cable for use in ducts and plenums.
3. One line-termination connector comes with each twinax-attached printer.

IBM Cabling System

The IBM Cabling System standardizes the wiring in a building. This cabling
system lets you move various devices without rewiring the building each time a
device is moved.
The signal cable that attaches the printer to this cabling system is a 150-ohm IBM
Cabling System shielded twisted pair (ICS) attachment cable.
Up to seven printers can be connected to a single computer port; however, the
maximum length of this cable on any port cannot be longer than 1524 m (5000 ft).
The printer does not require a balun at the printer end when connected to IBM
Cabling System. The host system or controller may require a balun.

Ordering Attachment Cables and Connectors from IBM

The signal cables for connecting the printer to the IBM Cabling System are called
attachment cables.
IBM part numbers for attachment cables are provided below:

For planning and installation of the IBM Cabling System, see your IBM
representative and the IBM Cabling System Planning and Installation Guide,
GA27-3361.

Telephone Twisted-Pair

The printer also can attach to the host system or controller by a 110-ohm Telephone
Twisted-Pair (TTP) cable.
The printer requires a special signal cable for attaching to the TTP wiring method.
The cable consists of a balun, a length of twinax cable with a twinax connector on
one end, and a length of telephone twisted-pair cable terminated in a miniature
6-pin modular plug at the other end. The balun is used for converting from twinax
to telephone twisted-pair wiring. TTP attachment is done using the IBM 5299
Terminal Multiconnector Model 3. The 5299 requires a TTP adapter cable assembly
(IBM part 69X7883) and each printer requires a TTP adapter cable assembly (IBM
part 96X6187). Each cable assembly contains a balun and is 3 m (10 ft) long. If this
method is used for attachment, the maximum cable length between the printer and
host system or controller is 304 m (1000 ft). A balun is required at the host system
or controller end.
