Installing Cable Connectors on Coax Cable

If you purchase bulk coax cables, assemble them as follows. See the illustrations
following these instructions for dimensions and help in doing these procedures. If
you use connectors provided by a company other than IBM, use the instructions
provided by the manufacturer.
1. Be certain the connector kit has all the required parts. Check the cross-sectional

1. If your system uses coax cable, plan to connect adapters to your coax cable as soon as
possible for ease of setup.
2. Cable commercially designated RG 62A/U, meeting the preceding specifications, is an
approved substitute. Cable outside diameter (OD) = 6.15 ± 0.18 mm (0.242 ± 0.007 in.).
3. Cable commercially designated RG 62A/U, which is modified for outdoor use
(including vapor barrier and thicker cover) and which meets the preceding
specifications, is a suitable substitute. Cable OD = 6.6 ± 0.25 mm (0.260 ± 0.10 in.).
4. Seven ends, 16 carriers, 8.2 ± 10 % pick per inch, 90 % minimum coverage.
5. Jacket must meet the minimum requirements for underground feeder and branch circuit
cable and also must be weather-proofed and sunlight resistant, per UL Subj. 493.
