Beamforming Mode
NOTE: Two or more antennas must be enabled for beamforming transmissions. Three
antennas must be enabled for reception. OFDM data rates must be enabled.
Beamforming cannot be utilized if the antenna configuration restricts operation to a
single transmit antenna or if OFDM data rates are disabled.

Beamforming is a spatial filtering adjustment to radio transmissions that's
designed to improve a receiving client's signal power and SNR. Beamforming
uses multiple transmit antennas to direct transmissions to 802.11a or 802.11g
clients to increase downlink SNR and data rate, reduce coverage holes and
improve performance. 802.11b clients do not support beamforming. A single
access point radio can support up to 15 beamforming clients.
Beamforming is supporting explicitly on Motorola Solutions access points and
must be supported on the receiving client. In the receiving end of the data path,
the access point updates beamforming data or the active entries when packets
are received from an address matching an active entry. If a packet is received
from a beamforming client not an active entry, the access point automatically
replaces the oldest active entry. In the transmit data path, if a packet is
destined for an active entry, the access point links the packet based on
recorded beamforming information. Options include None,
explicit-noncompressed-compressed, explicit-noncompressed-only and
explicit-compressed-only. The default setting is None.
