RIP Configuration

Use the RIP Configuration page to enable and configure or disable RIP in Global mode. To display the
page, click Routing → RIP → Configuration in the tree view.

The RIP Configuration page contains the following fields:
• RIP Admin Mode — Select Enable or Disable from the drop-down menu. If you select Enable, RIP is
enabled for the switch. The default is Disable.
Split Horizon Mode — Select None, Simple, or Poison Reverse from the drop-down menu. The

default is Simple. Split horizon is a technique for avoiding problems caused by including routes in
updates sent to the router from which the route was originally learned. The options are:
– None — No special processing for this case.
– Simple — A route is not included in updates sent to the router from which it was learned.
– Poison Reverse — A route is included in updates sent to the router from which it was learned, but
the metric is set to infinity.
• Auto Summary Mode — Select Enable or Disable from the drop-down menu. If you select Enable,
groups of adjacent routes are summarized into single entries, in order to reduce the total number of
entries. The default is Enable.
• Host Routes Accept Mode — Select Enable or Disable from the drop-down menu. If you select
Enable, the router accepts host routes. The default is Enable.
