Figure 9-28. RIP Configuration
The RIP Configuration page contains the following fields:
RIP Admin Mode — Select Enable or Disable from the drop-down menu. If you select Enable, RIP is
enabled for the switch. The default is Disable.
Split Horizon Mode — Select None, Simple, or Poison Reverse from the drop-down menu. The
default is Simple. Split horizon is a technique for avoiding problems caused by including routes in
updates sent to the router from which the route was originally learned. The options are:
None — No special processing for this case.
Simple — A route is not included in updates sent to the router from which it was learned.
Poison Reverse — A route is included in updates sent to the router from which it was learned, but
the metric is set to infinity.
Auto Summary Mode — Select Enable or Disable from the drop-down menu. If you select Enable,
groups of adjacent routes are summarized into single entries, in order to reduce the total number of
entries. The default is Enable.
Host Routes Accept Mode — Select Enable or Disable from the drop-down menu. If you select
Enable, the router accepts host routes. The default is Enable.
