4. Enable DHCP on the management interface.
Enter the config command at the console to enter the Configuration mode as follows:

Use the following command to set the IP address to DHCP and return to Privileged Exec mode:

5. If the management station is a member of a remote network, and is not directly connected to the
interface, configure a static route.
The configured IP address must belong to the same subnet as one of the switch IP interfaces. In this
example the static address is 192.168.20.100.

6. Ping the management station from the switch to ensure that connectivity has been achieved.
Wait 30 seconds for the port to be in STP forwarding mode before pinging the management station. In
this example, the Management station IP is 50.1.1.2.
