Maintenance and diagnostic tools

Introduction
The following maintenance and diagnostic tools are included with Symposium
Web Center Portal Release 4.0/SU05:
Dashboard Utility

Logging tool
!
Web Communications tools for the Internet Information Server
!
pcAnywhere
!
If an error occurs, record the error message, the system configuration, and the
actions taken before and after the error occurred. If the problem persists, contact
your Nortel Networks customer support representative.
Administration maintenance
The following list describes the basic administration maintenance required by
Symposium Web Center Portal:
1. Check the e-mail server mailboxes for any mail that was not processed by
the Inbound Mail Handler (IMH). Log on to the e-mail server and look at
the number of e-mails in each skillset's inbox. This number should reduce
each time the IMH runs. Nortel Networks recommends that the
administrator add the Symposium Web Center Portal mailboxes to the e-
mail client.
2. Run the Dashboard Utility and check that all the system components are
running correctly. For more information, refer to "Using the Dashboard
utility" on page 601.
3. Use the Dashboard Utility to monitor the amount of data in the database
and purge the database as necessary. For more information, refer to
"Maintaining the database" on page 427.
4. Monitor the amount of space available for the attachment folder and purge
when necessary.
