Troubleshooting the Sample Customer
Interface
Introduction
This section lists problems that can occur with the Customer Interface. For each
problem, it suggests possible solutions.
Before you begin, ensure that you have met all the system requirements for the
Customer Interface. For more information, refer to "To verify your version of
DirectX" on page 143.
The Customer Interface cannot access the database
When the Customer Interface cannot access the database, verify that the
database connection parameters have been set correctly in the db.properties file,
and that the web.xml deployment descriptor file (in the application's WEB-INF
subfolder) has a valid reference to db.properties.
To verify the Database Connection Parameters
1
Edit the /swcp-ci/WEB-INF/web.xml file and locate the DBPROPSFILE
entry in the <context-param> section. Verify that its <param-value> entry is
the correct location of the db.properties file.
2
Edit the db.properties file, and ensure that the database name, server and
port properties are valid. The port value must be 5005.
3
If changes were required, save and close the files, and open the browser
and type the URL <hostname>/swcp-ci/login.html.
4
Log on with a valid customer ID.
Problems submitting a transaction
If you encounter problems submitting a transaction, ensure that all of the
required Windows services are running on the Symposium Web Center Portal
server.
