VLT® Servo Drive System ISD 511
Operating Guide
11.4 Motor Overload and Overtemperature Protection
-
A sensor which measures motor windings temperature is integrated in the motor of the ISD 511 servo drive. This issues a
warning/error (0x4210) if motor overheating is detected. This prevents motor overheating in case of overloads.
-
In addition to the sensor, a second protection mechanism is integrated, which protects the motor even in case of sudden
overloads. As local temperature hotspots cannot be detected during a sudden overload event, they are evaluated via soft-
ware by simulating the physical motor model.
-
The combination of both measured temperature and evaluated local hotspot warnings provides protection against motor
overheating.
11.5 Allowed Forces on the ISD 511 Servo Drive
Fr: 250N
Fa: 800N
Illustration 76: Allowed Forces
The maximum axial and radial load while assembling the motor and for any mechanical device connected to the shaft, must not
exceed the values shown in
Table
-
The bearing could be permanently damaged if the maximum allowed forces are exceeded.
Table 115: Maximum Load Ratings
Maximum radial force (Fr) in N
ISD 511
250 N
The maximum radial load ratings are based on the following assumptions:
•
The servo drives are operated with peak torque of the longest member of the frame size.
•
Fully reversed load is applied to the end of the smallest diameter standard mounting shaft extension.
•
Infinite life with standard 99% reliability.
•
Safety factor = 2
