COMPONENT FUNCTIONS & DESCRIPTIONS:
This section describes every Ultra Whisper standard and
optional component along with its function or purpose,
location, and operation. Also described are items
required or desired for installation. The component
definitions in this chapter must be understood before
continuing through this manual. The manual beyond
this section assumes that the customer has read and
understood the system component definitions. A
glossary of terms is available at the end of this Section.
The descriptions are listed according to the ID numbers.
This ID number is used throughout this manual to locate
the component in the System Piping and Interconnect
Diagram illustrated on page 4 of this section.
Throughout this manual, the ID number follows system
components, i.e., Sea Strainer [4]

COMPONENT SUBDIVISION:
The Ultra Whisper System is broken down into six
sections: (A) The Pre-filtration Section, (B) the
Pressurization Section, (C) Brine Discharge Section, (D)
Product Water & Optional Post Filtration Section, (E)
Fresh Water Flush & R.O. Membrane Element Cleaning
& Rinsing Section, and (F) Electronic Controls.
A. PRE-FILTRATION SECTION collects and filters the
feed water. The feed water is filtered to remove
suspended solids larger than 5 Microns in size
(5/1,000,000 of a meter). The pre-filtration section
protects the Membrane Element from premature
suspended solids fouling.
1. Inlet Thru Hull Fitting with Forward Facing Scoop
** This is the point at which the feed water enters
the system. It is important that the installer
utilizes a forward facing scoop so that the system
receives a positive flow of water as the boat is
under way.
CAUTION: A flat or flush inlet thru-hull fitting
will cause a vacuum as the boat is under way and
this will cause loss of feed water flow and
cavitation of the feed water pump resulting in
continual System shut down due to low feed water
flow and pressure. The resulting failure of the
System to remain in operation is attributed to
improper installation, is the liability of the
installer, and is not covered by the Sea Recovery
warranty.
CAUTION: If the thru-hull fitting is placed in a
position that allows air to continually enter the
thru-hull fitting this will cause the system to
continually shut down due to loss of feed water.
The resulting failure of the System to remain in
operation is attributed to improper installation, is
the liability of the installer, and is not covered by
the Sea Recovery warranty.
2. Sea Cock Valve ** is used in a ship installation for
safety reasons to close the feed water line during
repair, maintenance, and nonuse of the System.
3. Feed Water Connector is attached
to the Sea Cock Valve [2] for
connection of the Feed Water
Suction Hose.
4. Sea Strainer has a clear bowl with
nylon body filter housing
containing a cleanable monel
fine mesh filter screen. The Sea
Strainer filters out large
particulate matter and
suspended particles that
would otherwise damage or wear the Feed Pump
[6] and or prematurely foul the cartridge Prefilter
Elements [7, 13 & 14].
5. Feed Pump Inlet Compound
Vacuum/Pressure Gauge -30-0-60 is
mounted on the Compact Series System
Control Panel or on the Modular Series
Prefilter Bracket. This
Vacuum/Pressure gauge monitors the
condition of the Sea Strainer [4] and the
Feed Water pressure or vacuum entering
the Inlet of the Feed Pump [6] from the
Sea Strainer [4].
