Sea Recovery Ultra Whisper Rev. A OPERATOR MAINTENANCE INTERVALS The frequency of required maintenance is dependent on the regularity of usage, the condition of the intake water (the location of use), the length of time the system is exposed to water, the total running time, and in some cases the manner in which the Ultra Whisper System is installed.

  • Page 199 Sea Recovery Ultra Whisper Rev. A Problem Diagnosis of the ETD Pump This Chapter is a practical guide for the detection and correction of problems that may cause malfunction of the ETD Pump. A malfunctioning symptom of the pump can be caused by various reasons. Each reason requires one or more inspections to identify the reason for the malfunction.

  • Page 201 Sea Recovery Ultra Whisper Rev. A Repair Process for the ETD Pump Before proceeding to the disassembly and repair of the ETD, it is suitable to have an idea of the problem causing the ETD malfunction. Diagnose the problem from the information in the tables on pages 11 and 12 above..
  • Page 202 Sea Recovery Ultra Whisper Rev. A Procedure to resurface the Sliding Distributor Panels NOTE: Drain the ETD of feed water prior to dismantling. 1. Loosen both elbows (item #26) that hold both plastic tubes (Item #48) to be able to undo the connection between these two components.
  • Page 203 Sea Recovery Ultra Whisper Rev. A Procedure to resurface the Sliding Distributor Panels continued 4. Inspect the surface of the sliding panel. Observe the surface of the sliding panel located between both linear grooves of pressure. This is the zone with the most wear. The sandpaper should be placed on a completely flat surface.
  • Page 204 Sea Recovery Ultra Whisper Rev. A Repair #2: Polish the Sliding Control Panel (Item #9) The Sliding Control Panel (Item #9) is made up of special polymer. It is pressed against the interior surface of the spacer (Item #14) and forced to move axially rubbing with the aforementioned surface. This repetitive axial displacement can wear or scratch the surfaces in contact, especially that of the control sliding panel.
  • Page 205 Sea Recovery Ultra Whisper Rev. A Procedure to Continue resurfacing the Control Sliding Panel NOTE: Empty the water in the ETD before disassembling it. 1. Loosen both elbows (Item #26) that hold both blue polyamide tubes (Item #48) to be able to undo the union between these two elements.
  • Page 206 Sea Recovery Ultra Whisper Rev. A Procedure to Continue resurfacing the Control Sliding Panel continued 4. Inspect the sliding control panel, specifically the face of closing with the spacer. This face cannot have visible grated rinds. If anomalies of this type are seen, these surfaces need to be resurfaced. If the closing face is extensively worn-out in its interior cavity and has a depth lower than 2 mm, the Sliding Control Panel needs to be replaced.
  • Page 207 Sea Recovery Ultra Whisper Rev. A Repair #3: Cleaning the orifice (Item #47) The orifice (Item #47) is a hexagonal spike M6 x 6 mm, which has a machined hole 2 millimeters in diameter. Water circulates across this hole to Low pressure. If the ETD is not flushed properly, a filter is defective, or for another reason that causes dirt to come into the machined hole of the orifice, this may partially or completely plug the orifice.
