B. HIGH PRESSURE ABNORMALITIES:
High Pressure Abnormalities, excessive or higher than normal pressure at the R.O. Membrane Element as registered
on the High Pressure Gauge [18], can be caused by Low Temperature Feed Water, High Salinity Feed Water, Fouled
R.O. Membrane Element, a blockage in the Brine Discharge Line, and or a blockage in the Product Water Line.
Abnormality 1.
SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN DURING OPERATION OR IMMEDIATELY AFTER
STARTING AND THE HIGH/LOW PRESSURE FAULT LAMP IS
ILLUMINATED. THE HIGH/LOW PRESSURE FAULT LAMP DID NOT
ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY (DID NOT BLINK) FOR 20 SECONDS
PRIOR TO THE SYSTEM SHUTTING DOWN.
Properly Position Valves
a) Ensure that the Sea Cock Valve [2] is fully open.
b) Ensure that the Inlet Rinse Clean Valve [36], if installed, is positioned towards the Sea Strainer [4]
normal operating position.
c) Ensure that the Discharge Rinse Clean Valve [37], if installed, is positioned towards the Sea Brine
Discharge Fitting [22] normal operating position.
d) Ensure that any valve in the Brine Discharge Line or at the Thru Hull Discharge Fitting [22] is full
OPEN.
e) Ensure that any valve in the Product Water Line is full OPEN.
f) Ensure that there are no kinks or other blockages in the Brine Discharge Line and or the Product Water
Line.
IF The Feed Pump Inlet Compound Vacuum/Pressure Gauge [5] registers Normal with slight vacuum or 0 (zero)
PSI, the Prefilter Inlet Pressure Gauge [12] registers higher than normal, the Prefilter Outlet Pressure Gauge
[16] registers higher than normal, and the Operating Pressure Gauge [18] also registers higher than normal.
This would indicate that the ETD is attempting to overcome a "restriction" of Product Water Flow caused by
one or more of the reasons stated above (Low Temperature Feed Water, High Salinity Feed Water, Fouled
R.O. Membrane Element, a blockage in the Brine Discharge Line, and or a blockage in the Product Water
Line).

a. POSSIBLE CAUSE: LOW TEMPERATURE FEED WATER.
1) The System may be operating and reacting normal in relationship to the Feed Water Salinity and
Temperature. Refer to the Salinity, Temperature and Operating Pressure Charts in Section 10 of this
manual to ensure that the System is being operated within the Feed Water Temperature limits stated,
and or that the resulting operating pressure is at the expected pressure according to the charts.
