Profinet [OXM]

Profinet (Process Field Network) is an open Industrial Ethernet standard from PI (Profibus and
Profinet International) and is based on existing IT standards (such as UDP, for example).
For information regarding the commissioning of Profinet, see
the PLC [OXM]
Data is organised in modules in Profinet. This means that the data is summarised in logical
groups and mapped to the existing interfaces. The mapping and evaluation of the data in the
PLC must be configured with the respective manufacturer-specific tool.
Mapping of the sensor functions to the Profinet modules
The following tables give an overview of the arrangement of the sensor functions (data ele-
ments) in the individual Profinet modules. The data elements are organised from sub-modules
for easier evaluation.
