pose, either remove the battery from the battery receptacle or turn the prosthesis off by
pressing the button in the charging receptacle.
• If you do not achieve the expected results by adjustment and by selection of the appropriate
program, please contact an Ottobock Myo-Service facility.
• Use the "Patient Information" section of this pamphlet (Section 3) to inform your patient about
the function and use of the SensorHand Speed.
• The SensorHand Speed has been developed for everyday use and must not be used for unu-
sual activities such as extreme sports (free climbing, paragliding, etc.). Careful handling of
the prosthesis and its components not only increases their service life but, above all, ensures
the patient's personal safety! Should the prosthesis be subjected to unusual stresses (such
as a fall), immediately contact your prosthetist and have the prosthesis inspected for any
damage. If necessary, the responsible prosthetist will pass the prosthesis on to the Ottobock
Myo-Service.
• Use the product only in combination with components approved by Ottobock (combination
options). Ottobock shall not accept liability in the event that the product is used with compo-
nents other than those Ottobock specifies.
• Any other manipulations to the prosthesis not described in these Instructions for Use are not
permitted.
• The battery may only be handled by Ottobock Service Centres (batteries are not user-serv-
iceable).
• The product and any damaged components may only be opened and repaired by authorised,
qualified Ottobock personnel.
• If the distance to HF communication devices (e.g. mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, WiFi
devices) is too small, interference with internal data communications can result in unexpect-
ed prosthesis behaviour. Therefore, keeping the following minimum distances to these HF
communication devices is recommended:
• Mobile phone GSM 850/GSM 900: 0.99m
• Mobile phone GSM 1800/GSM 1900/UMTS: 0.7m
• DECT cordless phones incl. base station: 0.35m
• WiFi (routers, access points,...): 0.22m
3 Patient information
• Do not allow foreign particles or liquids to get into the SensorHand Speed mechanism.
• The SensorHand Speed should not be subjected to intense smoke, dust, mechanical vibra-
tions, shocks or high temperatures.
• Avoid staying near high-tension power lines, transmitters, transformers or other sources of
strong electromagnetic radiation (such as security systems for goods in department stores),
as this can lead to malfunction of the SensorHand Speed.
• The Auto-Grasp function which is initiated by touching the thumb sensor, requires careful
handling in certain situations, i.e. when shaking hands, body hygiene, etc.
• The SensorHand Speed and SensorHand Speed components may be opened or repaired
only by certifed Ottobock Myo-Service technicians.
• If the SensorHand Speed will not be used for an extended period of time, it should be left in
the open position to protect the sensor and control mechanism.
• Please provide your patient with the 646D165 Patient Information on the SensorHand Speed.
