Only start up the product in accordance with the information contained in the accompany­
ing documents supplied.
1 Intended use
1.1 Medical Purpose
The 8E38=8*, 8E39=8, and 8E41=8* Ottobock SensorHand Speed are to be used solely for
the exoprosthetic fitting of the upper extremities.
1.2 Application
The 8E38=8*, 8E39=8, and 8E41=8* Ottobock SensorHand Speed can be used for unilateral
or bilateral amputees.
1.3 Application conditions
The 8E38=8*, 8E39=8, and 8E41=8* SensorHand Speed have been developed for everyday
use and must not be used for unusual activities such as extreme sports (free climbing, paraglid-
ing, etc.).
The 8E38=8*, 8E39=8, and 8E41=8* Ottobock SensorHand Speed is designed exclusively for
use on one patient. Use of the product by other persons is not approved by the manufacturer.
1.4 Prosthetist qualifications
The fitting of a patient with the 8E38=8*, 8E39=8, and 8E41=8* Ottobock SensorHand Speed
may only be carried out by prosthetists who have been trained and certified by Ottobock for the
use of MyoBock components.
2 Safety information
Failure to follow the safety instructions given below can lead to damage to or mal­
function of the product. Follow the safety instructions and the precautions speci­
fied in this accompanying document.
• Do not use silicone spray when putting on the prosthetic glove; silicone spray may compro-
mise secure fit of the glove. As a mounting aid the 633S2 Ottobock Procomfort Gel is recom-
mended.
• In order to reduce the malfunctioning risk of the SensorHand Speed and of the connect-
ed components due to strong electromagnetic radiation (e.g. when near high-tension pow-
er lines, transmitters, transformers or security systems for goods in department stores), the
electrode gains should be set as low as possible.
• Before interrupting or establishing electrical connections (such as when removing the hand
from the prosthesis), the system must be disconnected from the power supply. For this pur-
