9.5 Program 5:
With this program, the opening speed is determined by speed and level of muscle tension. Until
reaching a minimal grip force of approx. 10 N closing speed is dependent on muscle relaxation
speed. Grip force is determined by the following or the simultaneous muscle signal to the sec-
ond electrode.
FlexiGrip is effective, depending on the initial grip strength, at slightly over the maximal
AutoGrasp Grip Force. Once the grasp is secure, the SensorHand Speed reverts to the initial
grip force.

Electrode 2:
Gripping:
Grip force buildup is determined by the level of the muscle signal to the
second electrode. Maximal grip force is approx.100 N.
Example 1:
After opening, the amputee relaxes the muscle. Closing takes place
proportionally to the muscle relaxation. The object is gripped with minimal grip
force (10 N). FlexiGrip is effective at 20 N. Once the object is securely grasped,
the SensorHand Speed reverts to the minimal grip force.
Example 2:
After gripping, as described in Example 1, the object must be grasped with
a higher grip force. The amputee must create a muscle signal to the second
electrode. Proportionally a grip force between 10 N and 100 N can be built-
up. If the object starts to slip the grip force is increased up to 50%. FlexiGrip
is effective at approx. the double value of the initial grip strength up to 130 N.
Once the object is securely grasped, the SensorHand Speed reverts to the
initial grip force.
