SUBJECT: UPPER FUSING GUIDE SCREWS
SYMPTOM:
A groove is worn into the surface of the Hot Roller resulting in lines on copies and possible damage to the
Transfer Belt.
CAUSE:
The screws (03130050B) securing the Upper Fusing Guide (A1534055) loosen and fall out. The screw(s)
fall onto the paper and are transported to the Fusing Unit where they damage the Hot Roller.

PRODUCTION COUNTERMEASURE:
An additional step has been added during production to ensure that the screws have sufficient torque
applied.
FIELD COUNTERMEASURE:
At the next service visit, ensure that the three screws indicated in the illustration are not loose.
UNITS AFFECTED:
All FT4022/4522/4027/4527/5035/5535 manufactured since August, 1996 have had the production
countermeasure listed above applied at the factory.
