BULLETIN NUMBER:
APPLICABLE MODEL: FT5035/5535
SUBJECT:
REGISTRATION AREA MISFEED
SYMPTOM:
Paper stalls at the Paper Feed Drive Roller [A] when feeding from the internal paper trays.
CAUSE:
Normally, once the lead edge of copy paper reaches the Registration Rollers, the
One-Way Clutch of the Paper Feed Drive Roller [A] rotates freely as the paper is
fed by the Registration Rollers. When this type of clutch rotates freely for a long
period of time, the clutch temperature rises and the friction between the Feed
Roller Shaft and the Needle Pins increases. If the friction increase is extremely
high due to a continuous heavy copy run, the Needle Pins may move over the
lock ridge and into the narrower area, resulting in a clutch lock.
SOLUTION:
The One-Way Clutch has been changed to a different type to reduce the friction between the Feed Roll er
Shaft and Needle Pins. The locations of the One-Way Clutch are shown below.
NOTE: The FT5035 uses 3 One-Way Clutches and, due to the LCT, the FT5535 uses only 2 One-Way
Clutches.
