Insufficient Pressure Roller Cleaning Offset
Occurs irregularly. Large "clumps" of toner fall off the pressure roller cleaning roller onto the c opy paper.
The toner can be wiped off by hand. This can occur over the whole paper surface and usually involve s large
amounts of toner.
Action:
• Inadequate cleaning of the pressure roller leads to residue on the pressure roller. This reduces the
lifetime of the pressure roller causing premature replacement.
• Is the cleaning roller attached?
• Is the cleaning roller rotating properly?
• Is there an uneven build up of toner?
If any of these symptoms apply, replace the cleaning roller. However, if there is toner accumulatio n of
about 0.5mm on the cleaning roller, the cleaning efficiency has dropped and indicates that the rolle r
should be replaced. If the accumulation is less than 0.5mm, then the chances that this roller is th e
cause of the problem are very slight.
Horizontal Black Line
A narrow horizontal black line, not on the original, appears on the copy 125mm from the front edge o r
continues at a 125mm pitch. This only occurs when there are no blank areas on the leading or traili ng edges
(blank edges are 0 mm).
Action:
• Ensure that blank areas are created on both the leading and trailing edges (> 0 mm).
Offset Image Is Inverted
The offset picture and characters are inverted. When using the back of the sheet, the image aligns with the
one on the other side. This is because the melting point of the toner of the image on the back of t he sheet is
too low.
Action:
• If the melting point of the toner is too low, discontinue the use of the back of the sheets.
Examples of toners with low melting points: Flash fusing , some color copiers, hot transfer ribbons, etc...
Toner Drops Onto Copy Paper
Occurs irregularly. "Clumps" of toner fall off the thermistor onto the copy paper. The toner can b e wiped off
by hand.
Action:
• Toner debris accumulates on the thermistor. This is caused by a dirty thermistor. Clean the thermi stor.
