Cold Offset (incomplete fusing)
Offset (125mm pitch) only occurs in the morning when the machine is first turned on or when using
thick paper.
Action:
• Check the environment temperature. In conditions under 10 ° C and 15% humidity, problems may occur
when the machine is turned on at the beginning of the day.
• Is the fusing temperature adjusted to the proper setting? Is it set too low? The minimum is 160 °C.
• Has there been a drop in fusing lamp voltage? Is it below 90 volts? In this case, the nip area sho uld
be increased and the temperature setting should be raised.
Electrostatic Offset
When using OHPs or laminated paper, offsets appear scattered around the characters.
Action:
• Are the fusing roller and pressure roller properly grounded? Make sure that the static brush on the back
of the rollers is touching both the hot and pressure rollers (see illustration below).
• What is the environment like? In conditions below 10 °C and 15% humidity, certain types of paper are
prone to electrostatic offset.
Though certain types of paper may be subject to this condition, occurrences are quite
rare and this should not occur under normal operating conditions.
This brush should
contact both the Hot
and Pressure Rollers.
