Installing the Services Gateway Using a Mechanical Lift

To avoid harm to yourself or the services gateway as you install and maintain it,
follow the guidelines for working with and near electrical equipment, as well as the
safety procedures for working with networking devices. For a discussion of how to
make the installation site a safe environment, see "Preparing the Site for Services
Gateway Installation" on page 37. For a list of safety warnings, see "Safety and
Regulatory Compliance Information" on page 147 and particularly "Electrical Safety
Guidelines and Warnings" on page 167. However, providing an exhaustive set of
guidelines for working with electrical equipment is beyond the scope of this manual.
Because of the device's size and weight—up to 163.5 lb (74.2 kg) depending on the
configuration—we strongly recommend you install it using a mechanical lift as
described in "Installing the Services Gateway Using a Lift" on page 54. If you do not
use a lift to install the device, see "Installing the Services Gateway Without a
Mechanical Lift" on page 201 for complete instructions to install the device safely.
Before installing the device, you should have prepared your site and reviewed the
guidelines in "Preparing the Site for Services Gateway Installation" on page 37. The
"Site Preparation Checklist" on page 37 summarizes the tasks you need to perform
when preparing a site for services gateway installation. You also need to unpack the
device from the shipping container as described in "Unpacking the Services Gateway"
on page 45.
