Replacing Hardware Components

Field-Replaceable Units (FRUs)

This chapter explains how to replace hardware components on the services gateway.
It discusses the following topics:
Replacing IOCs on page 116
Replacing SPCs on page 127
Field-replaceable units (FRUs) are services gateway components that can be replaced
at the customer site. The device uses the following types of FRUs:
Hot-removable and hot-insertable FRUs-You can remove and replace these
components without powering off the device or disrupting the routing functions.
Hot-pluggable FRUs-You can remove and replace these components without
powering off the device, but the routing functions of the system are interrupted
when the component is removed.
Cold-swap-only FRUs-You must power off the device in order to remove, replace,
or add these components.
Table 26 on page 100 lists the FRUs for the SRX 5600 services gateway.
