NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted
surfaces.

Write down the frequencies for the radio's preset
buttons. Disconnect the negative ( ) cable first,
then the positive ( )cable from the battery.
Remove the battery.
Remove the intake manifold cover {see page g-3).
R e m o v e t h e a i r c l e a n e r h o u s i n g ( s e e p a g e 1 1 - 1 6 2 ) .
Remove the intake air duct {see step 8 on page 5-3).
Remove the battery tray (A).
D i s c o n n e c t t h e t r a n s m i s s i o n g r o u n d c a b l e ( B ) .
Disconnect the back-up light switch connector (A)
a n d v e h i c l e s p e e d s e n s o r ( V S S ) c o n n e c t o r ( B ) .

8. Remove the cable bracket (A). then disconnect the
c a b l e s ( B ) f r o m t h e t o p o f t h e t r a n s m i s s i o n h o u s i n g .
Carefully remove both cables and the bracket
together so as not to bend the cables.
9 . R e m o v e t h e h a r n e s s c l i p .
