A/C Service Tips and Precautions
Compressed air mixed with R- 134a forms a
c o m b u s t i b l e v a p o r .

Never use compressed air to pressure test

A i r c o n d i t i o n i n g r e f r i g e r a n t o r l u b r i c a n t v a p o r
can irritate your eyes, nose, or throat.
Be careful when connecting service equipment.
Do not breathe refrigerant or vapor.

r e m o v e R - 1 3 4 a f r o m t h e a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g s y s t e m .
lf accidental system discharge occurs, ventilate the
w o r k a r e a b e f o r e r e s u m i n g s e r v i c e .
R - 1 3 4 a s e r v i c e e q u i p m e n t o r v e h i c l e a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g
systems should not be pressure tested or leak tested
w i t h c o m p r e s s e d a i r .
A d d i t i o n a l h e a l t h a n d s a f e t y i n f o r m a t i o n m a y b e
obtained from the refrigerant and lubricant
m a n u f a c t u r e r s .
. Always disconnect the negative cable from the
b a t t e r y w h e n e v e r r e p l a c i n g a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g p a r t s .
. Keep moisture and dirt out of the system. When
d i s c o n n e c t i n g a n y l i n e s , p l u g o r c a p t h e f i t t i n g s
immediately; don't remove the caps or plugs until
iust be{ore you reconnect each line.
' B e f o r e c o n n e c t i n g a n y h o s e o r l i n e , a p p l y a f e w d r o p s
of relrigerant oil to the O-ring.
. W h e n t i g h t e n i n g o r l o o s e n i n g a f i t t i n g , u s e a s e c o n d
wrench to support the matching fitting.
. W h e n d i s c h a r g i n g t h e s y s t e m , u s e a R - ' 1 3 4 a
ref rigerant recovery/recycling/charging station; don't
release refrigerant into the atmosphere.

Add the recommended refrigerant oil in the amount
listed if you replace any of the following parts.
. T o a v o i d c o n t a m i n a t i o n . d o n o t r e t u r n t h e o i l t o t h e
c o n t a i n e r o n c e d i s p e n s e d , a n d n e v e r m i x i t w i t h o t h e r
refrigerant oils.
. l m m e d i a t e l y a f ' t e r u s i n g t h e o i l , r e i n s t a l l t h e c a p o n
the container, and seal it to avoid moisture
a o s o r p r o n .
. D o n o t s p i l l t h e r e f r i g e r a n t o i l o n t h e v e h i c l e ; i t m a y
damage the paint. lf it gets on the paint, wash it off
