Power Supply

Use the information in Table 2-2 to troubleshoot power supply problems.
Table 2-2: Power Supply Problems
Problem
Power is not working
properly or power-related
errors are occurring.
Server does not boot.

System Power Module

Some servers use one or more System Power Modules (SPMs) to distribute direct
current to system components. If your system uses SPMs, use Table 2-3 to
troubleshoot SPM problems.

Possible Cause
Power supplies are not
connected properly.
Power supplies are not
working.
System does not have
enough power.
Possible Solution
Check for loose connections. Refer to
"Loose Connections" in this chapter for
more information.
If the power supplies have LEDs, be sure
that they indicate that each power supply
is working properly. Refer to your
server-specific user documentation for
details on LEDs.
If LEDs indicate a problem with a power
supply, replace the power supply.
Be sure that the system has enough
power, especially if you recently added
hardware. Additional power supplies may
need to be added. Check the system
information from the Integrated
Management Log (IML) and use your
server-specific user documentation for
product-specific information. Refer to
"Integrated Management Log" in
Chapter 4.
