Signal Input Wiring

2-10
SV100A/SV10AC User Guide
Warning Prevent the possibility of electrical shock or damage to the
instrument. Disconnect power prior to making any connections. Use
extreme caution when wiring signal input connections. ▲
Warning To prevent the possibility of electric shock, use extreme caution
when wiring signal input connections. Hazardous potentials may exist on
signal input terminals which are floating, with respect to case ground.
These hazardous potentials may be on the rear terminals panel of your
instrument. Any voltage potential at the signal source will exist on the
instrument's respective signal input terminal (for example - thermocouples
used to monitor generator winding temperatures). ▲
Caution Never run signal and power or control wiring together in the
same conduit. This will prevent possible recording errors due to induced
signals between lines. Route signal wires away from power wires at the rear
panel. ▲
Caution Ground cable shields at one end only to eliminate the possibility
of interference due to ground loop currents. When grounded transducers
are used, the shield should be grounded at the sensor end
only. ▲
Depending on the options you ordered, the recorder can accept up to 18
direct inputs. Input connection is via screw terminal connectors on the rear
panel. Inputs can be mixed in any combination of thermocouple, RTD
(with the purchased option), milliamps (mA), millivolts (mV), volts (V), or
contact inputs. We recommend that you record data on the Point
Programming Forms (Appendix C) as you connect the inputs.
