d. Current: Currents must be enabled to measure a passive resistance
to the recorder. The recorder uses a precision current source to
measure resistance. If a resistance, other than an RTD, is entered
into an input, this function must be enabled. Refer to the following
example.
Passive resistance to be measured is 0–1500 ohms. With 2 mA
of current and the Currents function enabled, apply the
following formulas:
Current x Lowest Resistance = Lowest Voltage
Current x Highest Resistance = Highest Voltage
If the current is 2 mA and the lowest resistance is 0 ohm then:
0.002 x 1500 = 3 V (highest voltage)
Thus, if using the 5 V point type and the input scale is set from 0–
3 V, the output scale should be programmed as 0–1500 ohms.
Do not turn the Currents function on for any input types other
than resistance inputs, as inaccurate readings will result.
4. Alarm Limits screen: Refer to the Similar Programming Parameters
section for instructions.
5. Press Apply to save changes.
0.002 x 0 = 0 V (lowest voltage)
