a. Filter: Refer to step 3c in the Linear type point programming
section.
b. Compensation: Thermocouple compensation can be local (from a
recorder internal temperature sensor) or external (through a point).
i. Local Compensation: When thermocouples are compensated
locally, temperature sensors (located at the rear terminal plate of
the recorder) are used to determine the cold-junction
compensation required by the physical connection of
thermocouple wire at the recorder input terminals.
ii. Remote Compensation: As an alternative to using local
compensation and thermocouple wire, a single recorder input
can be set to measure the cold-junction temperature at a remote
location (where the thermocouple-to-copper wire transition
occurs). Copper wire may then be used for the rest of the
thermocouples from the remote junction to the recorder inputs
instead of thermocouple wire. The point used as the
measurement source of the remote cold junction source is
referred to as the compensation channel. Press Remote,
followed by the Point text box. Enter the point number. The
point number representing the compensation temperature must
be in Celsius.
