a. Base Point: The base point is the actual temperature of the process
and is compared to the reference temperature.
b. Z Constant: To establish a constant other than the default constant
(10°C), press the input box and type in the number. The Z
constant varies with the specific process, but it must be greater than
zero. If you enter zero, the point becomes overrange.
c. Reset Control block:
i. Event: Event reset causes calculated points to be reset upon an
event switch closure. Press the input box and enter the event
number to be used to reset the point. Press OK.
ii. Save on Reset: Select whether the instrument should save data
upon reset.
iii. Auto: With this function turned off, the point continually
calculates until a reset (via event or input from the front panel)
occurs. The point prints a reset message with the current time
and the value of the calculation at reset to the alarm/event
summary file. With the function turned on, the recorder uses
the target temperature to determine when the calculation
begins. The calculation begins when the base point becomes
greater than or equal to the target temperature. When this
occurs, a start message prints to the alarm/event summary with
current time and value of the points. The value is cleared and
the calculation begins again. This calculation continues until
the base point becomes less than the target temperature. At this
time, the calculation stops and a stop message is printed to the
alarm/event summary with the current time and value of the
calculation. The point is cleared to 0.0. The process begins
again when the base point becomes greater than or equal to the
target temperature.
If the base point goes invalid, the calculation point also goes
invalid. When the base point becomes valid, the calculation
