Figure 5–10. Linear type point programming: Parameters screen
a. Input Low and High Scales: The input scale set must remain within
the input point type range for the point. For example, if you select
a point type of 5 V (±5 V range) and your input signal is 2–5 V,
you can set the input scale for 2–5 V. You may not set the input
scale for a voltage of greater than or less than the ±5 V of the point
type selected. Set the low and high input scales by pressing the
associated input boxes and entering the desired value.
b. Output Low and High Scales: The output scale is programmed to
convert the input into the correct unit value of the measurement.
For example, if your input scale is set at 2–5 V, which translates
into 1000–4000 psi from a pressure transducer, set the low output
scale to 1000 and the high output scale to 4000 with the units set
to psi. The recorder correlates an input of 2 V with a pressure of
1000 psi and an input of 5 V with a pressure of 4000 psi. Set the
low and high output scales by pressing the associate input boxes
and entering the desired value.
c. Filter: The digital filter smoothes noisy or erratic signals by
attenuating the effects of sudden transitions. Figure 5–11 displays
the effect of the digital filter on inputs. The filter is programmable
from 0 to 600 seconds in one-second increments. Press the Filter
input box, enter the desired filter seconds.
