2.2 Setting the Instrument Online

2.2.1 When

The following two states are possible for the atomic absorption
spectrophotometer program.
 Online status : Measurement can be performed through
control of the spectrophotometer main unit.
 Offline status : Data processing can be executed on the PC
side alone without controlling the
spectrophotometer main unit (status in which
online mode is inactive).
The instrument must be set to online status for conducting
measurement. There are two methods for selecting online
status at startup of the instrument. For selection of the
methods, refer to "5.11 Setting Automatic Start."
Described next are two procedures at startup of the instrument.
(1) The Method window in Fig. 2-3 appears, and online
processing starts automatically (process in which
communication with the spectrophotometer main unit
begins and measurement enable status is assumed).
The progress of the initialization can be checked via the
status of the online time bar (Fig. 2-4).
