(7) Open the main valve of gas and press the [FLAME
ON/OFF] button on the spectrophotometer main unit (for
about two seconds). Then the flame comes out of the pilot
flame and ignited. Be sure to keep the front door tightly
closed when operating ignition. If the door is not closed, the
sensor will prevent ignition.
NOTES: 1. The combustion conditions such as fuel gas flow
rate vary with the ambient temperature and
humidity, atomizer replacement, and other factors.
Measurement should be conducted after setting
gas flow rate and other combustion conditions
optimum for each element. If the flame is low
and soon goes out at ignition, set a higher fuel gas
flow rate prior to ignition.
2. Since the solvent will become fuel in the case of
an organic solvent sample, measurement must be
made with a fuel gas flow rate lower than the usual
setting. First perform ignition with the standard
fuel gas flow rate for each element, and then
reduce the flow rate while aspirating the organic
solvent sample.
3. When the gas piping from the cylinder to the main
unit is long, a single ignition sequence may not be
able to fully replace the air in the piping with gas
and fail to ignite. In this case, execute the ignition
sequence again.
