The HW, COMM, TRANSEC and Term Cal status boxes at the left-hand side of the
screen show summary fault status of the Modem, communication channel status,
calibration status and TRANSEC keying.
The Alarm ACK button will acknowledge one (1) alarm at a time, starting with the oldest
alarm.
The Status box in the lower center of the screen indicates status of network connection.
The Role field indicates whether the Modem is operating as the Network Controller
(NC) or a Network Member (NM).
The GPS FOM box displays the Figure of Merit (FOM) from the attached GPS unit.
The Emergency Terminal Zeroize will destroy all loaded keys, key derived items and
disables the Modem data port (J1).
This should only be used in extreme circumstances where the
Communications Security (COMSEC) fill is in immediate danger of
being compromised.
At the bottom of the screen, the HCI displays information about the system in a status
bar format (See Figure 4-5). The time field displays the current Zulu time while the run
time field displays the duration that the Modem has been in operation since power on.
The Zulu time on the bottom status bar of the HCI reflects the network time. This time is
synchronized to the local PC or Network Time Protocol (NTP) server connected to the
NC. The NC in turn provides this timing to the rest of the NMs in the Reference Forward
Orderwire (RFOW) burst so that all network nodes reflect the same time. When a
Modem is NOT CONNECTED to an NCW network the timing source (i.e. single PC or
NTP server) can be changed to update the time on the HCI. When a Modem IS
CONNECTED to an NCW network, the Modem will keep the timing source updated to
reflect what is displayed on the HCI. This is done so that the period of the Message
Seed Key (MSK) will keep current with the timing source. The Round Trip Delay (RTD)
field is the computed round-trip delay to the selected Satellite (this will default to 251 if
there is no Satellite selected). The IP address displayed is that of the Modem (default
192.0.1.2 when communicating via the CDU port on the Modem).
The top and bottom segments are displayed at all times while the particular screen
displayed in the center segment will vary depending on the menu option selected. The
middle section of the screen will change base upon what screen you select through the
menu items listed on the Overall Status Screen.
