10 R2CP NETWORK OPERATIONS

The Radio-Router Control Protocol (R2CP) feature allows a local Modem to provide
information to its local data router ("local router") about each of the radio links to remote
Modems for both Unicast and Multicast DCOM traffic.
The primary purposes of R2CP are:
Implement flow control metrics to the local router so it can throttle the transmit
rate it sends data to remote nodes based on current conditions.
Provide link metrics to the local router so it can in turn generate appropriate
routes for the network layer. For example, the router can use R2CP-reported link
metrics as input to Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) link cost.
