MPM-1000A Operator Manual
The configuration options of the Terminal Control and Monitoring Interface are as
follows:
Unbalanced signaling mode*
Balanced half-duplex (HD) RS-485, and
Balanced full-duplex (FD) RS-422/RS-485
*Note: Unbalanced signaling mode output voltage swing is 0 to +5V. The input signal
voltage range is -7V to +12V.
This interface is located on the rear panel J6 connector.
14.3.2.12 Frame Strobe Interface
The Frame Strobe signal is being utilized by the Modem in a Multi-modem Network
Centric mode of operation. This signal is being asserted by the Master modem with an
active pulse each time the MPM‟s 96 MHz, 32-bit time keeper counter rolls over (i.e.
once every 44.74 seconds). It is used to time synchronize multiple Slave IP-Modems,
with one modem operating as the Master Timekeeper and the other modems operating
as Slaves.
The multi-modem mode is also called Modem Stacking mode. Section 6 describes the
set-up for Modem Stacking configuration.
This interface is located on the rear panel J6 connector.
14.3.2.13 GPS Interface
The Modem provides an interface for connecting to an external Global Positioning
System (GPS) device. This interface is capable of extracting location data from a GPS
device that provides ICD-GPS-153C compliant serial data. This interface supports both
RS-232 and RS-422 electrical connections.
This interface is located on the rear panel J6 connector.
