MPM-1000A Operator Manual
8.7.10 NCW Link Budget Tab
This NC only page provides a link budget calculator that can be used to estimate the
burst information rate that can be achieved directly (peer-to-peer) between a particular
source and destination Terminal.
This Tab is only available when the system is connected to the Satellite.
Refer to Table 8-10 NCW Link Budget Tab for data descriptions for this window.

Pick the source Terminal. Note: only logged-in Terminals will appear in
the source and destination lists.
Pick the destination Terminal.
Enter the expected power output of the source Terminal.
Click this to have the Modem compute the link budget. If the link cannot
be close single hop, a red error message will appear.
Estimated C/No in dB-Hz that can be achieved at the destination Terminal
when the source Terminal transmits at the specified EIRP.
Estimated burst information rate that can be achieved between the source
and destination Terminal.
Modulation type of the burst used to achieve the above C/No and data
rate.
Spread factor of the burst used to achieve the above C/No and data rate.
Code rate of the burst used to achieve the above C/No and data rate.
The minimum C/No required to achieve the desired network BER at the
above data rate (not taking into account the link margins specified in
section 8.8.2 below).
