13.5 Alarms/Events

Alarms and events are used to monitor and assist with troubleshooting the system.
These should be set at the direction of a system administrator. Only a brief overview of
the Modem capabilities is provided here for reference.

13.5.1 Setting Audible Alert for Alarms

Alarms may be set to provide an audible indicator of specific conditions in the Modem.
Select Configure → Alarm Sound. (See Figure 13-1)
An audible indication is provided when a short message is received.
The sound associated with this audible indication needs to be named
"beep.wav" and must be located in the same directory as the Modem
HCI executable file (typically "C:\Program Files\L-3 Communications,
Linkabit Division\IP Modem HCI"). If that file does not exist, then the
audible indication will be a beep tone at 500 Hz for a 1/2 second.
