Distance Measurement
Function: measuring the distance between two points of the ultrasonic im-
age.

Tracing Length Measurement
Function: to use the manual tracing to calculate the distance. In general, B
mode tracing length measurement is used for measuring non-linear dis-
tance.

Area Measurement
There are two type of area measurements, elliptical method and tracing
method, Select the default measurement method, or click Area, the elliptical
and tracing options will appear. (See "Area Measurement Main Menu" (s 7-45,
p 181))

Enter B mode and press Measure key on the control panel.
Select Distance in the main menu.
Roll the trackball to put the caliper on the image, and position the
first measurement mark and press Set key.
Roll the trackball to move the caliper and position the second mea-
surement mark. Press Set key to measure the distance between two
points of the image, The measurement result will be displayed in the
Measurement result table of the imaging screen.
Press Measure key to enable the measurement function.
Select Trace Length in the main menu to select Trace Length mea-
surement.
Roll the trackball to position the first measurement mark, and press
Set key to set it's position.
Roll the trackball again to position the second measurement mark,
and press Set key to complete the measurement. The system will re-
cord the measuring results to the Measurement result table on the
screen.

Making an ellipse measurement
Function: To measure the circumference and area of a closed area
through the elliptical method. When the two diameters D1 and D2
used in the measurement are almost equal, the formula for calculating
circumference is very accurate. When the ratio between two diameters
exceeds 2:1, it is recommended to use the tracing method to ensure
the accuracy of the measurements.
