Chapter 7 - System Operation
Optimizing Color Mode
Preset generally gives optimal performance with minimal adjustment. If
necessary, the following controls can be used to further optimize the Color
Mode display:
Adjust the following settings to further optimize image display:

Select Gain to adjust gain in the color flow area.
Set Scale to the highest setting that provides adequate flow detection.
Select LVRej to remove low velocity blood flow and tissue movement
to improve image quality.
Select Freq. to optimize the color flow display. Higher settings improve
resolution. Lower settings improve depth penetration and sensitivity.
Select Frame Rate to adjust the Frame Rate.
Select Power to obtain an acceptable image while using the lowest set-
ting possible.
Use Invert to reverse the color assignments in the color flow area of the
display.
Use Priority to emphasize either the color flow overlay, or the detail of
the underlying gray scale tissue.
Use Persist to enhance the sensitivity of the signal's correlation in the
time domain.
Use Baseline to emphasize flow either towards or away from the probe.
Use Radial Avg. and Lateral Avg. to reduce noise in the color flow area.
Use all noise reduction controls with care. Excessive application may

obscure low level diagnostic information.
