The following steps may only be properly
accomplished by exercising

6- Mount the pump in a vise in a vertical
position, as shown. Lay the diaphragm over
the top of the nylon disc washer and onto
the pump body. Notice how the spring holds
the disc up and partially lifts the diaphragm
from the pump. This is a normal condition.
7-
Insert the small disc and the short
spring into the cavity, as shown. This spring
and disc helps to cushion the vacuum im-
pulses from the engine.
8- Ease the fuel pump cover down over
the diaphragm and then thread the six cover
attaching screws into the pump body.

9- Slide the filter element into the fuel.
The end of the f ilter elem ent must slide
over the indexing peg in the bottom of the
pump. Force the element onto the peg until
it is fully seated.
10- Place a NEW gasket into position in
the fuel pump, as shown.
11- Place the fuel pump bowl over the
filter element and into position on the gas-
ket.
