spring retainer. Work the spring upward
until the inner spring tang engages the slot
on t he bottom of the retainer.
2- Align the hole in the retainer
the hole in the spool sleeve.
3- Slip the bearing head and pinion gear
down over the spool shaft.

4- If the lower bushing was removed,
install a bushing into the bottom collar

on the engine.
HELPFUL WORD
As an assist to installation,
bushing in hot water for about ten minutes,
and then lubricate
outboard oil.
5- The tang on the outer spring must
hook into the slot
retainer plate. Pull on the outer spring to
elongate the spring, and at the same time,
lower the spring into the spring retainer
plate and hook the tang into the slot in the
plate. Rotate the spring
