8.2 Setting ODBC to the Database

When using DB Connection Service on the database server computer, the ODBC setting
for the database to be used must be set beforehand.
The following explains the ODBC setting procedure.
For details, refer to the following.
(1) ODBC driver
(2) To start the ODBC Data Source Administrator
DB Connection Service and DB Connection Service Setting Tool
DB Connection Service and DB Connection Service Setting Tool Version 1
DB Connection Service and DB Connection Service Setting Tool Version 2 (32-bit)
DB Connection Service and DB Connection Service Setting Tool Version 2 (64-bit)
(3) For Oracle

Manuals and online help for the database software and operating system used
Only the ODBC driver installed at the same time as the installation of the database
can be used except for the cases below.
'Microsoft Access Driver(*.mdb)', 'Microsoft ODBC for Oracle', and 'SQL Server' which
are supplied with the operating system cannot be used.
• Before connecting an Oracle database using DB Connection Service Version
2 (32-bit), install the 32-bit version of Oracle Client.
When the installation method of Access is Click-to-Run (C2R), install Microsoft
Access database engine 2010 first, then start "ODBC Data Source Administrator".
Enter the following command in the command prompt in accordance with the software
version of MX MESInterface and the version of DB connection service to be used.

(The following shows a setting example using Oracle
7 Professional Operating System.)
Set the following conditions.

• Data source name

• TNS service name
• OracleHome: OraClient12Home1

Data source name can be set as desired.
For [Data source name] in [Server service settings], use the name set with this setting.

The TNS service name is the name for accessing an Oracle
The name is entered when installing Oracle
