Controls in 2D

To specify which controls appear in the Controls bar, see
appear only when the image is frozen.
Table 4-1: 2D controls
Button name
THI
Tap this control to turn Tissue Harmonic Imaging (THI) on
(highlighted icon) or off (dimmed icon).
Available only with certain transducers and exam types.
SonoMB
Turns SonoMB multi-beam imaging technology on (highlighted
icon) and off (dimmed icon). SonoMB enhances the 2D image by
viewing a target from multiple angles and then merging or
averaging the data.
Available only with certain transducers and exam types.
Update
Updates the image. In Dual, tapping the control switches the active
side from left to right or right to left. In Doppler or M Mode, tapping
the control toggles between the trace or sweep and the 2D pane.
Needle
Tap on (highlighted icon) to enhance linear structures within a
Profiling
selected angle range and facilitate needle guidance. See
"Visualizing needles"
Orientation
Tap to select the image orientation and align the image with the
transducer: Upper Right, Upper Left, Lower Left, Lower Right.
Res/Gen/Pen
Settings are as follows:
Res provides the best possible resolution.
Gen provides a balance between resolution and penetration.
Pen provides the best possible penetration.
Optimizes the image by applying a specific group of settings such
as focal zones, aperture size, frequency (center and bandwidth),
line density, and waveform. The appearance and number of
optimization settings for this button are determined by the selected
transducer and exam type.
Dual
Tap this control on (highlighted icon) to display side-by-side
images, for which you can adjust some controls (for example,
Depth and Gain) independently.
With Dual on, tapping the right-hand or left-hand image (or tapping
Update) makes the image active. See
