8 Verify that all gel, debris, and bodily fluids have been removed from the system and transducer. If
necessary, repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 with a new wipe.
WARNING
9 Prepare the disinfectant for use.
a Choose a high-level disinfectant from the list of approved disinfectants.

b Check the expiration date on the bottle to ensure the disinfectant has not expired.
c Mix or check that the disinfection chemicals have the concentration recommended by the manufacturer
(for example, a chemical strip test).
d Check that the temperature of the disinfectant is within the manufacturer's recommended limits.
10 Perform a high-level disinfection of the transducer. Use the following procedure:
a Immerse the transducer in a high-level disinfectant solution.

transducer.
High-level disinfectants can cause harm to the patient if not completely removed
from the transducer. Follow the manufacturer's rinse instructions to remove
chemical residue.
