To calculate LV Volume (Simpson's Rule)
Note
1 On a frozen 2D image, tap Calcs.
If this control is hidden, tapping More Controls displays it.
2 Tap the EF calculation list to access the LV Vol EF measurements.
3 To trace each measurement manually:
a Under the measurement name, tap the gear icon and select Manual Trace.
b Position the caliper at the mitral annulus, and lift your finger to start the trace.
A pencil icon appears.
c Using your finger, trace the left ventricular (LV) cavity.
To make a correction, trace backward on the dotted line.
d Complete the trace at the other annulus by lifting your finger from the screen.
The trace closes automatically.
e Adjust ventricle length as needed.
f Save the calculation: Tap
4 To trace each measurement automatically:
a Under the measurement name, tap the gear icon and select Border Assist.
b Adjust the calipers so that one is at the mitral annulus, another is at the other annulus, and the third is at
the highest point (apex) of the left ventricular (LV) cavity.
c Tap on Trace.
d Once the trace is completed, you may adjust the shape by selecting and dragging the border points.
e Adjust ventricle length by dragging the cursors.
Note
To calculate MV or AV area
1 On a frozen 2D image, tap Calcs.
If this control is hidden, tapping More Controls displays it.
2 On the Area calculation list, tap MVA or AVA.
3 Drag the caliper to where you want to begin the trace, and lift your finger to start the trace.
Measurements and calculations
To calculate Biplane EF, you will need to make all four measurements.
under the measurement name.
Moving the apex of the ventricle length can also be used to adjust the border.
