2 Drag the caliper to the beginning of the desired waveform.
After lifting your finger from the screen, a pencil icon appears, indicating that the start location is set and
you can begin your trace.
3 Drag the caliper to trace the waveform.
To make a correction, trace backward on the dotted line.
4 To complete the measurement, remove your finger from the screen.
The trace closes automatically and the measurement results appear.
Note
To measure automatically
After measuring automatically, confirm that the system-generated boundary is correct. If you are not
satisfied with the trace, obtain a high-quality Doppler spectral trace image, or trace manually.
1 On a frozen Doppler spectral trace, tap Auto Measure.
If this control is hidden, tapping More Controls displays it.
A vertical caliper appears.
2 Drag the caliper to the beginning of the waveform.
If calipers are not positioned correctly, the calculation result is inaccurate.
3 Drag the second caliper to the end of the waveform and lift your finger.
The measurement results appear.
To measure slope, VMax, Decel, and PHT
The Slope control can only be used in the cardiac exam type.
1 On a frozen Doppler spectral trace, tap Slope.
A vertical caliper appears.
If this control is hidden, tapping More Controls displays it.
2 Drag the caliper where desired.
3 Drag the second caliper where desired.
The absolute slope between the calipers is calculated. If the absolute velocity of the earlier caliper is
greater than that of the later caliper (and they are on the same side of the baseline), the deceleration time
(Decel) and Pressure Half Time (PHT) are calculated.
Measurements and calculations
Even after completing the trace, you can still adjust the measurement by dragging
the cursor. Drag the cursor backward to erase your trace or forward to extend it.
