To calculate Aortic Valve Area (AVA)
The AVA calculation requires a measurement in 2D and two measurements in Doppler. After the
measurements are saved, the result appears in the patient report.
1 In 2D:
a On a frozen 2D image, tap Calcs.
If this control is hidden, tapping More Controls displays it.
b On the AV/LVOT/AI calculation list, tap LVOT D.
c Position the calipers by dragging.
d Save the calculation: Tap
2 In Doppler, measure either LVOT VMax or LVOT VTI.
VMax - In the AV/LVOT/AI calculation list, tap LVOT VMax, position the caliper by dragging, and
then tap
to save the measurement.
VTI - In the AV/LVOT/AI calculation list, tap LVOT VTI, trace the Doppler waveform by dragging, and
then tap
to save the measurement.
3 In Doppler, measure either AV VMax or AV VTI
VMax - In the AV/LVOT/AI calculation list, tap AV VMax, position the caliper by dragging, and then
tap
to save the measurement.
Note
VTI - In the AV/LVOT/AI calculation list, tap AV VTI, trace the Doppler waveform by dragging, and
then tap
to save the measurement.
