Section 1. Introduction to the VS Series

1.1 The VS Series Component Leak Detector

The VS Component Leak Detector is a version of the VS Series wide-range Helium Mass
Spectrometer Leak Detectors with a new concept to integrate the whole leak detector into
portable compact units for easy installation into an OEM leak detection system:
VSC15BU, Base Unit, with all high vacuum components such as a helium mass
spectrometer/turbo molecular pump sub-assembly, electronics PCBs, internal cables
and I/O connectors
Optional Accessories:
VSC15DU, Display Unit, with Color LCD Display/Touch Panel, Front Panel control
PCB and a speaker
VSC15PS, 24 VDC Power Supply with universal (100-230) VAC input
VSCFLDCL, Calibrated Leak, Field Installed
VSCFACCL, Calibrated Leak, Factory Installed
VSCFLDPN, ProfiNet Module, Field Installed
VSCFACPN, ProfiNet Module, Factory Installed

You provide:
A vacuum connection of a VSC15BU unit to the OEM leak detection system via a
single NW25 flange on the front panel of the Base unit, CovecTorr Gauge for the
Test Port/Foreline pressure measurement
a 24 VDC input power to the VSC15BU unit,
a VSC15DU Display (via display cable) and VSC15BU unit,
and utilize one of several communications control interfaces via computer, PLC or
industrial ProfiNet network.
