2.1 Initial Startup and Shutdown

2.1.1 Startup

To start the VS C-15 leak detector:
1. Plug the 24 VDC power cable into the 24 VDC inlet on the VS C-15 Base unit rear
panel.
Move the local branch power switch/circuit breaker in the ON position.
2. Verify that the POWER indicator, a green LED, on the VS C- 15 Base rear panel is ON
and VS C-15 Display LCD goes ON after about 10 seconds.
System Startup Function
Power up unit: 24 VDC
Turbo ramps to programmed RPM
Turbo reaches programmed RPM
Filaments 1 & 2 are checked and selected
filament activates
System background and turbo bearing
temperature are measured. If these parameters
meet the startup limits the 15 minute
stabilization timer stops or times out.
Refer to Section 2.2.5.1 "Calibration Set-Up Screen" on page 2-23 to properly set-up the
leak detector for auto-calibration.

If the system was recently calibrated before shut down, it can

be used for qualitative testing. Read the standard leak to verify
accuracy. For more accurate quantitative leak values, perform a
calibration 30 minutes after start-up.
To accurately read in the most sensitive decades of each
working range, perform a full internal or external calibration
after a 20-30 minute warm up.
The VS C15 Base unit is always in Test/Measurement mode.
