Each Drive Enclosure is assigned sequentially to the strings, one string at a time.
The sequence of assigning strings is based on the performance capabilities of the
drives installed in the Drive Enclosures. For optimal performance, the Drive
Enclosures with the highest performance drives are first assigned to strings and
then continue sequentially until all of the Drive Enclosures are assigned to
strings.
The following table summarizes the sequence of assigning Drive Enclosures to
strings.

Example of String Assignments
Referring to an example of string assignments can help you recognize string
assignments for your Oracle FS System.
Drive Enclosures are distributed to strings based on the Drive Enclosure type.
The following figure shows an example of four strings and the corresponding
Drive Enclosure assignments for the following configuration:
Two DE2-24P Drive Enclosures with 400GB SSDs (performance)
•
Four DE2-24P Drive Enclosures with 900GB HDDs (performance)
•
Six DE2-24C Drive Enclosures with 4TB HDDs (capacity)
