TRAINER

This transmitter has two Trainer systems, the usual Normal
Trainer (Switching function that allows all of the operations to
be taken charge of by the Master side or the Slave side), and
the Programmable Function Trainer (System in which optional
stick channels can be switched to the corresponding Slave side
stick operation). When the latter Programmable Function
Trainer is used, it will be possible to master each of the
channels step by step, which is easier for the student.
In addition, it is possible to switch between the Master Mode
(MASTER) and the Slave Mode (SLAVE). The transmitter is
normally used as the "MASTER", and settings should only be
carried out for use as a Slave of the Programmable Function
Trainer. For more details, refer to the description below.
Basic Connections and Restrictions
In each Trainer, the following items are taken as the basis.
1. The Slave should be a PPM transmitter equipped with a DSC
jack.
During Normal Trainer Use
All of the operations will be changed
over using the Trainer switch. Accord-
ingly, it will be necessary for all the
functions to be set the same. In other
words, each of the transmitters should
be set so that they are able to carry out
the flying alone.
Note that it will be possible to return to
the Normal Trainer by pressing the
key.
During Programmable Function Trainer Use
SLAVE: Operation of
corresponding
channel on the
Slave side.
MASTER: Operation of
corresponding
channel on the
Master side.
Channels set to "SLAVE" (Slave) at the Master side can be
operated from the Slave side, while the other channels are
operated from the Master side.
All of the mixing at the Master side will be effective. That is, the
Slave will convey the stick operation to the Master, where the
Master will process the stick operation as though its own stick
was being operated. Note that for items other than those
described in the Basic Connections and Restrictions, the
following items should be set at the Slave side.
1. All of the settings should be set to the reference conditions.
That is, the stick channels should be set to their normal
settings where they are moved only using the sticks and trim
levers. (The mixing settings of the Slave should all be set to
zero.)
2. Each of the trim levers must be set at the same Master and
Slave neutral positions when changing over to the Trainer.
About the Slave Mode (Only when set to Programmable Function Trainer)
This transmitter incorporates a Slave Mode in order to allow
use without carrying out the settings at the Slave side
described above. By changing over to this mode, at the
Slave side it will only be necessary to switch OFF the power
and connect the cord to the DSC jack because all of the
mixing will automatically be stopped and the modulation will
be changed to PPM.
(When using as the Normal Trainer, this mode should not
be used.)
In the changeover, highlighting the "MASTER" display part
and pressing the dial will change to the "SLAVE" display.
(Transmitters equipped with SPCM/PPM switching should be
set to PPM.)
Note that the Master can be used without distinguishing
between PCM and PPM.
2. Switch on the power switch of the Master, and in RF-ON
(condition where radio waves are being emitted) connect the
Trainer cord to the DSC jack. (The Trainer cord is an optional
accessory.)
3. Set the Slave power switch to OFF and insert the Trainer
cord into the DSC jack to make the connection. (Radio
waves are not emitted by the Slave.) Note that when the
transmitter becomes in the Master condition, the "MASTER"
display will appear beside the Trim Display part in the normal
display, and the screen will show which of the Slave
channels are being used. When the Trainer switch is set to
the OFF side, operation will be carried out at the Master
side, and when the Trainer switch is set to ON (the side
towards you), the SLAVE/STUDENT will carry out the opera-
tion.

Accordingly, the trim positions should be adjusted before-
hand. In the situation where there is a discrepancy between
the positions, it will be possible to display the direction for
each channel that should be corrected to set the Slave to
neutral. Note that the throttle stick should be matched to the
Full Slow position.
3. If the Slave is capable of adjusting the left and right control
surface angles, the maximum control surface angles at full
operation should be set to the same at both ends of the each
stick in the Master and Slave, and the left and right control
surface angles should each be adjusted so that there are no
blind areas.
Note that the operation confirmation should be properly carried
out so that the Master and Slave allocations are clearly defined
before carrying out the flight.
This will flash when the Trainer cord is not connected to
the DSC jack, or when the power switch is ON.
